The homepage
The homepage provides a quick way to access featured listings. You will also find links to hot auctions (which have ten or more bids), auctions for items that start at $1 without a reserve and a stores listing.
Listings and gallery views
Items for sale and auction are displayed in two views for easy browsing. The gallery view displays the user-uploaded image of the product only, but if you hover your mouse pointer over the image a detailed summary of the item will appear. The listings view gives a more detailed summary with an image, a name and tags that indicate if the item is local, the buy now price (with a clickable button), the price, the number of bids and the closing time of the auction. A flag indicates if the reserve has been met. You can sort the items by clicking on any of the price, bids, or closes links.
Location When you browse the listings, the results default to the region that you specified as your location when you signed up. (This information is accessible from the contact details link in the My account panel.) You can easily view results from all of New Zealand or from a specific region. At the top of the listings there is a summary of the number of items listed and the current location. Other location options are presented as underlined hyperlinks. If you select other, you will be taken to a drop-down menu where you can select a more specific location.
Bid or buy
Some items are listed with a buy now option. This option only applies until the reserve price has been met and means that you can pay a predetermined price if you want to be sure of getting the item without bidding or waiting for the auction to close.
When you bid, you must meet the minimum amount specified for the initial bid, with subsequent bids in minimum increments of $1 or more depending on the auction's value:
$1000 or lower = $1 increment.
$1000 to $10,000 = $10 increment.
$10,000+ = $100 increment.
The auto-bid option allows you to let FoxyHub bid on your behalf up to a ceiling that you decide.
If a seller has enabled auto-extend, an auction will continue past its scheduled completion time in two-minute increments until there is no bidding within the two-minute period prior to closing. Look for the auto-extend message at the bottom of an item's full listing page.
Closing time
Check out the closing time of the auction when you bid. That way you can ensure you are close to a computer in case you need to compete further with other bidders as the auction closes. You can elect to receive an email reminder that an auction is about to close.
